Digital X-Ray
Digital X-Rays
Our digital X-rays emit 10% of the radiation of traditional dental X-rays. Not only are digital x-rays better for your health and safety, they are faster and more comfortable to take, which reduces your time in the dental office.
3-D Digital X- Rays
We also offer an advanced Digital 3-D X-ray machine. 3-D X-rays improve the accuracy of diagnosis and treatment planning. They allow for computer modeling of dental implants to find the perfect fit and smile.
What is a Dental X-ray?
Dental x-rays are essential, preventative, diagnostic tools that provide valuable information not visible during a dental exam. Dentists and hygienists use this information to safely and accurately detect hidden dental abnormalities and complete an accurate treatment plan. Detecting and treating dental problems at an early stage saves you time, discomfort, and your teeth!
How often should dental x-rays be taken?
A full mouth series of dental x-rays is recommended for new patients. A full series is usually good for three to five years. Bite-wing x-rays are taken at check-up visits and are recommended once or twice a year to detect new dental problems.
The need for dental x-rays depends on each patient’s individual dental health needs. Your dentist and hygienist will recommend x-rays based upon the review of your medical and dental history, a dental exam, signs and symptoms, your age, and risk of disease.
Emergencies
Dental emergencies can include:
- A knocked out or very loose tooth
- Chipped, broken, or cracked teeth
- Toothaches
- Infections or abscesses
- Tender or inflamed gums
- Deep cuts in gums, lips, or other soft tissues
- Canker sores which don’t heal as quick as they should
- Broken or lost onlays, veneers, crowns, bridges, dentures, or dental implants
If your tooth is knocked out or broken, you should proceed to the dentist right away. Some issues can wait a day or two; it is best to at least call the office right away so you can determine what the dentist wants you to do.
Crown
For dental crowns, it is important to go to a cosmetic dentist who is skilled as your smile will improve your overall facial appearance. We use advanced technologies such as computer models to help you achieve a beautiful smile.
Here are some of the benefits associated with CEREC® dental crowns:
-
High-quality porcelain enhances strength and durability.
- Your natural tooth is saved.
- Long lasting restorations.
-
Less injections, or discomfort.
- Cost effectiveness.
-
One dental visit instead of two saves you time.
- No temporary restorations.
What does a CEREC® restoration procedure involve?
The first step in the procedure is to prepare the tooth. The dentist removes all tooth decay and creates a divergent occlusal axial wall to see the opening of the tooth and base clearly. Next, an impression is made using a covering of titanium dust. This dust allows the CEREC® camera to take a medical grade highly detailed picture of the tooth.
The image is transposed onto a medical grade computer screen. It is here that the cosmetic dentist is able to view the tooth from every angle and design a final restoration with computer modeling alongside the patient. When the design is complete, it is transmitted to the milling unit.
Before affixing the restoration to the tooth, the dentist will place it dry to ensure it fits perfectly. It is then polished and affixed to the tooth with a dental cement. The procedure is now complete, and all without the need for a second visit! The latest dental technologies produce technically superior results, while saving a great deal of your busy time.
Veneer
As a cosmetic dentist Dr. Mendelovitz is an expert at using Dental Crowns and Veneers to achieve a beautiful smile. Veneers can completely reshape your teeth. They can be alternatives to crowns. For all cosmetic services, it is important to choose someone skilled as it can enhance your smile.
Reasons for veneers:
-
Cosmetically, to create a uniform, white, beautiful smile.
-
Crooked teeth.
-
Misshapen teeth.
-
Severely discolored or stained teeth.
-
Teeth that are too small or large.
-
Unwanted or uneven spaces.
-
Worn or chipped teeth.
What does getting veneers involve?
Getting veneers usually requires two visits to complete the process, with little or no anesthesia required during the procedure. The teeth are prepared by lightly buffing and shaping the surface to allow for the thickness of the veneer. A mold or impression of the teeth is taken and a shade (color) will then be chosen by you and the dentist.
On the second visit the teeth will be cleansed with special liquids to achieve a durable bond. Bonding cement is then placed between the tooth and veneer and a special light beam is used to harden and set the bond.
You will receive care instructions for veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your veneers.
Implant
For our implants we improve our diagnostic reliability through 3D X-Rays.
A custom fit stint is based on the 3D X-rays and Medical Computer Modeling so your implant is placed exactly as planned, reducing potential medical errors, improving accuracy, and crown aesthetics. This leads to high quality treatment, without mistakes.
After an implant is placed, a crown is attached. It is important to go to a cosmetic dentist you can trust. Dr. Mendelovitz is a Director at UCLA in the Center for Esthetic Dentistry in Computer Aided Design and Modeling. Through computer modeling and cosmetic design, we can now achieve your perfect smile.
